Speedy Metals Information for Hot Rolled Carbon Steel Plate

Tolerance under specified thickness .010" x 3/4 x 52" wide plate, for example, would have a tolerance range of .740 .780" Because of tolerances, ie thickness, flatness and camber, as well as the hot roll condition, ASTM A36 generally does not finish to specified thickness.

Steel Targets for Shooting Steel Types Arntzen Targets

The hardness is about 150 180 Brinell. A36 is not suitable for any type of target use. Not even shotgun. An A36 target will crater and present a serious safety hazzard. We use A36 for our bases and stands only. AR or AR225 is a high carbon steel but is not heat treated. The hardness is right around 225 Brinell.

Jan 28, 2014 · Maximum allowable hardness A106/A516 Carbon Steel. We had a fire in a gas station and soem vessels were exposed for several hours to the fire. Have no idea what the temperature may have been but > 600 degrees C. Does anybody know what the maximum allowable hardness is for the CS A106 /A516. The inspector is using Brinell hardness meter. Thanks
